Carolyn Ray R.N. is a very artistic woman who has many professions under her belt, the most important being a mother to seven children! There are 13 years between the oldest and youngest, so she sure had her hands full. Since her early 20’s, Carolyn’s true professional passion has been caring for individuals in need. She has spent roughly 28 years as a Registered Nurse caring for individuals with a variety of disabilities, such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, stroke victims, wound issues, paraplegic and quadriplegic patients. As she continued to struggle getting these individuals dressed, three to four times a day, she decided there had to be a better way to dress the people she cared for on a daily basis.

Carolyn’s mind is always ticking with new ideas to improve individual’s daily life in some aspect. One day she brought her snap clothing idea to her eldest daughter, Audra Ramsey. Audra had experienced, first hand, the challenges in dressing someone with mobility challenges, as her mother-in-law, Denny, had recently passed from Parkinson’s disease. Eventually, Denny had developed contractures, which made it very difficult for Audra to dress her multiple times daily. She decided, “Mom might have something here!” and started researching how to make the first snap clothing prototype.

Shortly after Audra began her research, her youngest sister, Evie Cobb along with their mother, came for a surprise visit to celebrate Audra’s birthday. During this visit, the three of them started talking about the possibilities of actually starting this clothing venture together. Evie is a world traveler and has always been passionate about helping others in need, no matter what species! She has worked extensively with primates and spent a year in Africa volunteering at a Chimpanzee sanctuary. She was very excited at the idea of starting this clothing venture with both her mother and oldest sister. She was also very confident that “Mom had something here!” and couldn’t wait to begin this family business. This is how it’s a snap® became a reality!

With their mother's vision, Audra and Evie started it’s a snap®, inc., an adaptive clothing line for individuals who have restricted movement, are confined to a bed or wheelchair or individuals who have temporary mobility issues, such as a broken hip or arm. it’s a snap® garments have a very unique design, which makes getting dressed a snap, while also giving pride and dignity to the individual wearing them!
